Several hundreds of students and Belgraders spent the third night outside the state public broadcaster Radio and Television of Serbia building in Takovska Street, in downtown Belgrade, which they have been blocking since 10 pm on April 14, thereby staging their disapproval of RTS’ reporting on student protests.
As protesters did not allow RTS employees to enter the building, the broadcaster did not air its morning program, starting at 6 am, on April 17, while the first edition of morning news did not go live with a news presenter, but had been taped and aired.
Due to blockades of RTS buildings in Takovska Street and Kosutnjak, a park-forest and urban neighborhood of Belgrade, as well as tents set up by President Aleksandar Vucic’s supporters outside the National Assembly building, many city streets have been closed for traffic, while a number of public transport lines have been suspended, causing major traffic jams throughout the capital.
