Croatian Manager Expelled From Serbia
Nikola Francetic, a Croatian national who has been living and working in Belgrade since 2018, has been expelled from Serbia as the police claimed he posed a "threat to national security."
Francetic said he had received a summons to appear at a police station, the department for foreigners, where he was informed that his residence permit had been revoked and that he had to leave the country within seven days, according to the Zagreb-based Jutarnji list.
He also noted that he was not active on social media and had never engaged in politics, although he privately supported the student protests. He underlined though that he had never expressed his support publicly, nor participated in the protests.
Since 2018, he had been the director of the television platform NetTV Plus, which was part of United Group, owned by Dragan Solak. In February, it was sold to Telekom Serbia, in which the state holds a majority stake.
Francetic is one of at least 16 Croatians who have been expelled from Serbia in recent months for the same reason, of posing a security risk to the Republic of Serbia.
