During an April 25 meeting in Belgrade with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides expressed his country's wish to expand cooperation with Serbia.
"I want to convey our readiness and commitment to advancing Serbia’s European perspective. This is both a substantive and symbolic visit — substantive because Cyprus will take over the EU presidency in the first half of 2026, and symbolic as this is the first visit as Cyprus prepares for that role," he added.
President Christodoulides stated that Cyprus supported Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty concerning Kosovo and Metohija. He officially confirmed his country’s participation in the international Expo exhibition scheduled to be held in Belgrade in 2027.
Vucic thanked Cyprus for its support to Serbia’s European path, territorial integrity and sovereignty, highlighting that Cyprus did not recognize Kosovo’s independence. The Serbian president stated that "great efforts are being made to increase trade between the two countries, attract more tourists from Cyprus, and encourage Cypriot tourists to visit Serbia."
