Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will attend a military parade organized by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on May 9, despite warnings from the European Union that the move could negatively affect Serbia's European integration process.

Alongside Vucic and Putin, the military parade in Moscow's Red Square will be attended by the leaders of more than 20 states, predominantly those whose style of rule is described as authoritarian.

From the countries that are EU members or nominally aim to join the 27-state bloc, only Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik are present besides Vucic.

After the military parade in Red Square, Vucic will first meet with China's leader Xi Jinping and then with Putin, with whom he will discuss a new gas arrangement, oil company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) against which the U.S. has imposed sanctions due to a majority Russian stake, and other topics.
