A vice-president of the Freedom and Justice Party, Marinika Tepic, warned on June 2 that Serbia was ruled by a "state drug cartel," claiming that the documents the French police had delivered to the Serbian Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime suggested that "Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his brother Andreja cooperated with Filip Korac," convicted in France for drug and arms trafficking, and assassinations.
"There are deeply disturbing things here about how heavily involved in crime the people running the state are. Starting with the fact that half of the Serbian government, I quote, is on cocaine, to the claim that Korac's associates collected votes for the Serbian Progressive Party," said Tepic, adding that the documents she presented at a press conference in the lobby of the Parliament of Serbia were delivered to the Serbian prosecution four years ago, but there had been no reaction since..
The senior opposition official went on to say that in September 2022, the French police seized 423 kilograms of cocaine near Tahiti, on a Swedish yacht, "packed in the parcels with the image of Aleksandar Vucic on, and it is known that drug traffickers mark their goods. Further, the opening of Sky communication revealed that Korac was the organizer of this drug trade."
Tepic also explained that that several years ago, the French authorities sent an official request to the Serbian prosecutor's office with evidence about Veljko Belivuk, who is currently on trial at the Special Court, but the prosecutors failed to act on the part mentioning Korac and top government officials, which, she underlined, constituted a criminal offense.
The Freedom and Justice Party’s official announced that her party would continue to publish the material it had gotten hold of in the coming days.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called on the Prosecutor's Office to investigate the claims made by Tepic, stressing that they were false.
"That man attacked my child, and he wanted to kill me. I have never heard of him or seen him in my life, and I ask the prosecution to initiate proceedings. I have never had a cigarette, never seen drugs, not even had a cup of coffee in my life. I despise drugs and drug dealers," Vucic said during a meeting with students who oppose the blockade of Serbian faculties.
