Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
Serbia will not descend into civil war and elections will be called when it benefits the state, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said on July 20.
“[Snap] elections won’t be called when it suits some party or anyone’s interests. Elections will be called when it suits the Serbian state. Right now we have [to deal with the 2027] EXPO, we have to construct everything and push that forward,” Vucic said in an evening appearance on Pink TV.
According to him, the ongoing traffic blockades staged by the country’s dissatisfied university students and general public are affecting the speed with which infrastructure projects are being realized, “creating huge problems.”
