The Serbian Center (SRCE) party called on Oct. 23 for the removal of tents in front of Serbia’s parliament where followers of the government have been camping out night and day.

The party’s city chapter called in a statement for the “urgent removal of this eyesore and disgrace for Belgrade from Trg Nikole Pasica square and Pionirski Park.” The party said that it was asking for this to avoid all future “terrorist acts” as Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic described an incident in which one person was injured there.

People’s Movement of Serbia president Miroslav Aleksic said that the only person who was to blame for the firing of shots followed by a fire in the camp in front of parliament, known as “Cacilend” (Caciland) was Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic “who says that Cacilend is the bud of resistance.” “Ergo the person who confirmed that he is the creator of the idea of Cacilend, he is responsible for everything happening. This situation does not exist anywhere else in the world,” Aleksic told the Danas newspaper.

The incident in the camp was planned and served to shift attention away from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic not attending Gen. Nebojsa Pavkovic’s funeral as well as diverting public attention from the European Parliament’s resolution which points to the corrupt and dictatorial nature of the regime in Serbia, the Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia said on Oct. 23. The statement said that it was “clear” that no one could have brought weapons into the camp “without the knowledge and permission of police.”
