The president of the Democratic Party, Srdjan Milivojevic, stated on Oct. 23 that the latest resolution of the European parliament (EP) on polarization and repression in Serbia would not be “just a flash in the pan” because it envisages the forming of a control body to monitor the fulfillment of recommendations and obligations from the document.

Milivojevic told BETA that the latest EP resolution was more serious than all previous ones and that it signaled the collapse of the foreign and internal policies of Aleksandar Vucic. “The Resolution on polarization and repression exactly lists all the problems that the mafia regime is producing in the Serbian society. It is particularly important that the European Union envisages a control body to deal with the fulfillment of recommendations and obligations from the Resolution,” Milivojevic said.

In his words, the imposing of personal sanctions against the people from the regime most responsible for the collapse of the canopy and repression against the citizens is particularly painful for the Serbian authorities. “For the first time, members of the regime are mentioned by name, like former ministers Goran Vesic and Tomislav Momirovic and police commandant Marko Kricak, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is referred to in a particularly negative context,” he stated.

Asked about what would be the Resolution’s effect on European officials and what on the authorities in Serbia, Milivojevic replied that Vucic would no longer be praised by European officials. He added that the European People’s Party group would soon expel the Serbian Progressive Party. “The European officials are expected to make sure that the European Commission stops the ungrounded praises of the regime of Aleksandar Vucic and force the regime to abide by the Serbian laws and Constitution,” stated the president of the Democratic Party.
