Neither the authorities in Belgrade nor the ones in Pristina are enthusiastic about approaching their dialogue more seriously, which is why the entire process has been left in idle mode until another time, Dragisa Mijacic, National Convention on the European Union coordinator for Chapter 35 in Serbia's European integration, said on Dec. 5.
"As for meetings at the highest level, conditions for that have not been created primarily due to the elections and the technical nature of the government in Kosovo, but also due to the fact that Serbia has not launched court proceedings regarding the events in (the village of) Banjska of 2023, which gives Kurti an excuse to refuse a joint meeting," Mijacic told the Blic daily.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Premier, now in caretaker status, Albin Kurti, last met in Brussels in 2023, and were in Brussels again - but did not meet with each other - in the summer of 2024.
In the meantime, only meetings at the technical level led by chief negotiators Petar Petkovic and Besnik Bislimi took place.
