Diversification of sources and routes of energy supply and strengthening energy security with new state-owned capacities of renewable energy sources remain Serbia's priorities in the further development of the energy sector, Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said on Dec. 12.
"Two years ago we started diversifying the gas sector by building the Serbia - Bulgaria gas interconnection, through which we are supplied with gas from Azerbaijan, and we also have access to the TAP and TANAP gas pipelines. We are currently preparing technical documents for gas interconnections with North Macedonia and Romania, i.e. we continue to work on expanding options for supplying our country with fuels from different directions," the minister said in a talk with a World Bank delegation on financing infrastructure projects in the energy sector.
Djedovic Handanovic added that Serbia was also wrapping up unbundling in the gas sector, which is part of the Reform Agenda it is implementing on the path to the European Union.
