European Movement in Serbia (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV/MO)
Five opposition parties met at the premises of the European Movement in Serbia on Dec. 25 and reached an agreement on coordinating the activities of pro-European actors toward the European Union.
The five parties in question are the People's Movement of Serbia, the Free Citizens Movement, the Serbia Center (SRCE) party, the Freedom and Justice Party, and the Green-Left Front.
The reached the agreement, as they put it, keeping in mind the already achieved results of coordination of pro-European actors in Serbia in relations with the EU, their growing presence and visibility in EU institutions, as well as the already achieved significant results in presenting true information about events in Serbia at the level of the EU.
They also did this by "warning about the dramatic deterioration of electoral conditions, growing pressure on institutions not to implement laws, and the accelerated unconstitutional concentration of power in the hands of the president of the state."
They reached the agreement "citing relevant reports by the European Commission and the European Parliament's resolutions on the state of democracy in Serbia, as well as the four-year blockade of negotiations on Serbia's accession to the EU caused by the anti-democratic, anti-systemic and anti-institutional activities of the authorities in Serbia."
They agreed to work on strengthening the coordination of all individual activities they undertake toward the EU, the European Commission, the European Council, and the European Parliament, as well as toward EU member states.
