Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Dec. 27 that he was concerned about the situation in the world, stressing that Serbia would “preserve peace.”
Speaking at the Banjica barracks in Belgrade, where he laid the foundation stone for a new facility for the Ministry of Defence of Serbia and the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Vucic said that the world was witnessing “big tensions between great powers and major regional powers.”
The president added that Serbia hade to be strong “because events in the world are unfolding at an enormous speed.” Vucic said that, given Serbia's surroundings it was not possible to “rule out the possibility of an attack on the territory of Serbia and the Serbian people,” and that it was therefore necessary to continue strengthening the country’s defense capabilities so that the Serbian Armed Forces were as strong as possible.
“We must remain vigilant and strong. We must not allow ourselves to be caught off guard and attacked without having the capacity for an adequate response,” Vucic said, announcing the opening of Serbia’s first drone factory in March or April, in cooperation with a foreign power although he did not say which.
