Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko has said that his country “is sincerely interested in a strategic partnership with a strong and sovereign Serbia,” and is assured that such a format of relations is fully aligned with the interests of both countries and their peoples.

“When we stick together, they cannot easily ‘cancel’ us, back us into a corner, or deprive us of our voice. In the context of growing tensions globally, this becomes particularly important,” the Russian ambassador said in his editorial for the Feb. 10 issue of Belgrade daily Politika.

He stressed that “discords always benefit those who want to reshape the world by their own terms, while disregarding the will of the people and the principles of international law.”

The Russian ambassador also said that “the world is going through a period of a serious transformation accompanied by the risk of growing confrontations,” adding that “we are witnessing the struggle over how the world will look like in the future – whether it will a be just and multipolar place or a world governed by force and unilateral decisions.”
