Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on March 1 that Serbia would accelerate its path to the European Union, but that the process had always rested on alignment with EU policies, where Kosovo and Russia are key issues. "We are ready for reforms leading to the EU," Vucic said in an appearance on Una TV.
Asked about Serbia joining the EU with no veto right, Vucic replied that he believed this would be very practical and that "something you can get quickly is smart." "We are ready for all reforms. I think it's very practical. Our people are interested in the single market so we can export goods," he said.
Vucic went on to say that he believed that Serbia-U.S. relations would get better and that Belgrade would invest a lot to see that happen.
"We will continue to repair relations with the Americans and I'm confident that we will succeed," Vucic said, adding that the U.S. and China were global powers, while other countries were regional players.
