Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric and the foreign minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya, Taher Salem Al-Baour, signed a memorandum of cooperation and political consultation on March 5.

“Serbia and Libya are nurturing a friendship that it older than seven decades, we are entering the eighth decade and it is not extending over a number of generations. We wish to return our relations to the path of historical friendship, which was so beneficial for both sides and marked by support on the international plane,” Djuric stated after the signing of the memorandum.

Djuric said that he and Al-Baour had very good and substantial talks about the advancement of cooperation and that the memorandum signed on March 5 envisaged regular exchange of information between the foreign ministries of Serbia and Libya.

“For us, the National Government in Tripoli is a friend, a partner who we want to develop cooperation with,” Djuric stated.

Djuric said that they exchanged opinions about global events and that Serbia greatly appreciated Tripoli’s support to its territorial integrity and sovereignty. He added that Serbia was “absolutely and unambiguously” advocating diplomatic solutions to all issues, that Serbia was on the side of international law and against any kind of attack on civilian targets, regardless of where they come from.
