The Chinese Embassy in Belgrade gifted on March 12 Serbian Parliament around 100 books by Chinese writers, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, and 11 laptops, Parliament has announced.

The donation was accepted by Serbian Parliament Deputy Speaker and president of the parliamentary friendship group with China Marina Ragus. "To understand modern day China, you need to peek into its history and philosophy. Anyone trying to understand what four global initiatives mean which a community with a shared future is founded upon, what peace, respect for every state and the U.N. Charter mean to China, must go back to the history of its philosophy, as the answers to this were given five thousand years ago," Ragus said.

Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming  who participated in the ceremony, expressed his gratitude at being welcomed and talked about the importance of cooperation between the National Parliament and Chinese Embassy. "Parliament is the highest state body in both Serbia and China, due to which it is a great honor to me and privilege to attend today's ceremony. I believe that these books will be a modest, but valuable contribution to the National Parliament's rich library," Ming said.

The Chinese ambassador added that Serbia and China had achieved important progress in their cooperation under the leadership of Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping, a statement said.
