European Green Party co-presidents Vula Tsetsi and Ciaran Cuffe said on April 17 that it was time for free and fair parliamentary elections in Serbia.

We are seeking and giving support to those who seek fair elections, Tsetsi told a news conference at the Serbian parliament organized by the Green-Left Front, adding that this was very important for the country. She called on the international and European community to send observers to monitor the elections in Serbia. Tsetsi asked the European Commission to take concrete measures when it came to money coming from the EU to Serbia and to reroute it to the civil sector.

Greens co-president Ciaran Cuffe said Serbia had a clear choice between Russia and Europe. As the European Green Party, we strongly believe that the ideas and principles of Europe are what Serbia needs right now, Cuffe said, adding that what Serbia needed was transparency, democracy and the rule of law, and that that was what Europe could offer. He called on the European People's Party to stop supporting Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his Serbian Progressive Party.

Green-Left Front co-president Biljana Djordjevic said the Green-Left Front wanted to internationalize the problems Serbia faced. "We want European institutions to regain credibility among Serbian citizens and to protect Serbian citizens, who are exposed to terror, violence, brutality," Djordjevic said.
