On April 22, the representatives of nine Serbian opposition parties met in Belgrade to discuss options for running in the potential early parliamentary elections.

The evening sit-down took place in the main offices of the People’s Movement of Serbia and was, according to the participants, “very good.” Further cooperative steps will take place soon, they said, although nothing concrete has yet been agreed upon.

In attendance were representatives of the People’s Movement of Serbia, the Freedom and Justice Party, the Green-Left Front, the Ecological Uprising, the Serbia Center party, the Movement of Free Citizens, the Social Democratic Party, Serbia’s Decentralization Movement and the New Face of Serbia.

The Democratic Party, the Get Going for Change movement and the New Democratic Party of Serbia opted out of the gathering.

The Democrats stated they did not participate in the meeting because they fully support the anti-regime university student movement. All the party’s resources and connections, they said, therefore are and will be invested in aiding the students and their potential electoral run.
