Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric (BETAPHOTO/MINISTARSTVO SPOLJNIH POSLOVA SRBIJE)
Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric stated on May 20 that Serbia is investing significant effort into furthering its position on its path to the EU and underscored the importance of the president’s upcoming visit to China.
Speaking for Prva TV, Djuric said he visited Brussels last week and had a working breakfast with European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas and other regional foreign ministers, while President Aleksandar Vucic had a “meaningful” conversation with EC President Ursula von der Leyen.
“All these are significant steps Serbia is taking to position itself in relation to a partner that surrounds us,” Djuric explained.
The minister went on to opine that the joint initiative Serbia launched with Albania for Western Balkan countries to be accepted into the Schengen Area is very important because it demonstrates Serbia’s commitment to a “region of cooperation, without tensions, without borders” – because, he said, the core of Serbia’s policy is “truly focused on cooperation.”
“We are a country deeply conscious of the fact we have eight neighbors; that our stability, security and peace depend on those neighbors, so we will continue to strengthen good neighborly cooperation with all regional countries and build good relations, and that is one of the pillars of our foreign policy,” Djuric concluded.
