Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu will be visiting Serbia on Feb. 17. He is to meet with his Serbian counterpart, Serbian Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, and visit the Liberators of Belgrade Memorial Park and the New Cemetery, both Belgrade and Moscow have announced.

Following the official reception in front of the Palace of Serbia, the Russian minster is to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Defense at the Guard Center, in Topcider.

According to the program, Shoigu, accompanied by Vulin, will then lay wreaths at the Liberators of Belgrade and the Red Army Soldier memorials and a capsule inside the “Eternal Flame” memorial plate in Belgrade’s New Cemetery.

After a meeting, they will visit the “Defense 78” exhibition, dedicated to defense against 1999 NATO aggression, at the Belgrade City Museum.

The Ministry of Defense’s announcement says that Serbia is the first country Shoigu is officially visiting following his reappointment as minister of defense, while Moscow believes that his visit will be "very substantial".
