Zeljka Cvijanovic

Republika Srpska President Zeljka Cvijanovic has said that a special war is currently taking place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To illustrate, Cvijanovic cited the reports that European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi and Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency, had agreed to have a special session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska take place. Cvijanovic underscored the harmfulness of such claims, labeling them "dangerous provocations."

"The Sarajevo schemers are at work again, colluding with their friends -- who are, in fact, enemies of the only possible Bosnia-Herzegovina. The actual targets, shooters and ammunition are immaterial. But what is unequivocal is that a special war is in progress," Cvijanovic said late on Dec. 21.

The Republika Srpska leader added that "Sarajevo's political players regularly resort to legal threats and calling in foreign troops or high representatives, in addition to enlisting domestic and international rabble-rousers."

According to the Sarajevo website istraga.ba, Varhelyi and Dodik talked in late November and reached an agreement that a special session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska should be held to discuss the transfer of jurisdiction from state to entity. Any decisions reached, the website reported, would take effect in six months. Dodik's party, the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, has denied that any such discussion took place.
