The newly elected members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zeljka Cvijanovic, Denis Becirevic and Zeljko Komsic, took the oath of office in Sarajevo on Nov. 16 and assumed the duty of the collective head of state.

This is the eight Presidency in the post-Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the first in which a woman is a member. According to the rotation principle, the first president of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be Zeljka Cvijanovic.

In her first address after assuming duty, Cvijanovic stressed that she entered the Presidency "with an extended hand and with good intentions." "We sorely need dialogue on all open issues that burden our everyday life and I believe everyone would give their contribution to resolving them in these circumstances," she stated.

Cvijanovic pointed out that Bosnia belonged equally to all its peoples, adding that domestic politicians had to solve problems in the country without imposition and interference from foreign factors. The inauguration of the new Presidency was attended by Bosnia's public officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
