Republika Srpska (RS) Premier Radovan Viskovic stated in Srebrenica on May 23 that the RS government would draft an agreement on peaceful dissociation and present it to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina within 30 days.
“We do not want a conflict. This is not secession – a peaceful dissociation is not secession. If someone believes you are a genocidal nation, then there is no reason to cohabitate,” Viskovic stated after the RS government’s session, held in Srebrenica.
He added that the government discussed the current situation regarding the U.N. General Assembly’s resolution on Srebrenica, assessing that the resolution was a vehicle for labeling the Serbs “a genocidal nation.”
The session was attended by RS President Milorad Dodik, the Serb members of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the chiefs and mayors of local communities from the areas of Birce and Podrinje. Police presence and security measures were heightened in Srebrenica during the session. Before arriving in Srebrenica, Dodik and the delegation visited Bratunac where they laid wreaths at the local cemetery.
