U.S. diplomat Louis Crishock, the first deputy of the high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and supervisor for Brcko, officially took over as the acting high representative instead of former high representative Christian Schmidt.

“I am honored by the confidence the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board has placed in me. I will carry out this mandate in accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace and the authority entrusted to the High Representative,” Crishock said after assuming duty, as quoted by the Office of High Representative (OHR) on the social network X.

He said that the course of action of OHR would not change and that stability of the state remained at the center of attention. “Our focus remains on safeguarding peace and stability, supporting the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and ensuring full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Crishock said.

Outgoing high representative Christian Schmidt congratulated the new acting high representative and wished him success in performing the responsible duties he has been entrusted with in Bosnia. The PIC Steering Board appointed Crishock acting high representative in Bosnia on June 30, until the final appointment of the new high representative, saying that they hoped the agreement on appointing the new high representative would be reached as soon as possible, with the aim of completing the appointment procedure not later than July 14 this year.
