Croatia Airlines will ask the government for aid worth HRK700m (EUR92.5m), which ought to be enough for the company to patch up a hole in turnover caused by the coronavirus and to further develop its fleet in order to be competitive on the market, daily Jutarnji List reports.

Company representatives estimate that the loss at the end of the year may total roughly HRK150m (EUR19.8m), as opposed to last year's HRK79.3m (close to EUR10.5m).

The remaining HRK550m in government aid (EUR72.7m), according to a recommendation from the financial advisors who have been working on finding a strategic partner for the company, should be invested in further fleet development, reads the article.

According to unofficial information, the government is ready to provide financial assistance to cover the losses of Croatia's flag carrier, while the amount will be decided on after the election.
