European Commision

The European Commission has sent an official warning to Croatia and called on it to fulfill its obligation of reporting on the objectives of increasing energy efficiency. Croatia was obliged to do so by April 30, 2019.

The European Commission has decided to launch a procedure against Croatia, by issuing an official warning for failure to fulfill the obligation of reporting on progress in achieving the national objectives of increasing energy efficiency, the EC stated on Feb. 12, as reported by the website B92.

Croatia still hasn’t submitted an annual progress report for 2019, in line with the EU’s Energy Efficiency Directive. Croatia’s HINA news agency says that without the report the EC cannot assess the progress made by certain member states, or the progress made by the EU as a whole in achieving the objectives of increasing energy efficiency for 2020.

Croatia has two months to reply to the EC, otherwise the Commission may decide to send it a justified opinion.
