Czech billionaire Petr Kellner signed on Oct. 28 an agreement on buying the eastern European Central European Media Enterprises (CME) television company.
CME owns the Slovenian Pop TV and Channel A tv stations, while the investment is worth nearly EUR1.9bn, according to the media.
The job is expected to last months as the acquisition needs to be approved by CME’s shareholders as well as the European Commission and several national regulatory bodies.
Kellner’s PPF owns Telecom regional operators, while the CEM also manages TV stations in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia.
After the signing of a contract on acquiring the CME fund, the PPF announced that it was not planning any major changes in its operation.
