On Oct. 19, a plenary session at the National Bank of Serbia launched official talks between the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) mission to Serbia and a delegation of Serbian officials.

The topic of discussion is the second review of the stand-by arrangement the IMF granted Serbia on Dec. 19, 2022.

The Serbian delegation is headed by Jorgovanka Tabakovic, the governor of the National Bank of Serbia and Serbia’s governor to the IMF, while the IMF mission, which will be staying in Belgrade until Oct. 31, is led by Donal McGettigan.

The talks will involve Serbia’s current monetary policy, fiscal and macroeconomic trends and projections, as well as the actualization of goals determined by Serbia’s ongoing economic program.

The first review of said economic program’s implementation was concluded in June 2023, and was followed up by an official statement by the IMF’s Executive Board.
