A memorandum of cooperation was signed in Shanghai on May 7 between the International Exposition Bureau (BIE), the EXPO 2027 Belgrade company and the World Expo Museum (WEM), establishing the framework for cooperation ahead, during and after the specialized EXPO in Belgrade. The memorandum was signed by the general secretary of BIE, Dimitri Kerkentzes, the director of the EXPO company, Danilo Jerinic, and the director of WEM, Liu Wentao, it was declared in the announcement of the EXPO company.

It was emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum laid grounds for cooperation that will contribute to increasing the visibility of EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, preservation of its heritage and further developing the global EXPO dialogue. Jerinic pointed out that the signing of the Memorandum was an important step in “building a lasting heritage of the forthcoming exposition.”

“The topic of our exposition ‘Play for Mankind – Sports and Music for All’ carries a universal message of unity, creativity and strength of human spirit. By this cooperation with BIE and WEM, we confirm that EXPO is not just an event, but a vision that connects people, inspires generations and leaves permanent heritage,” Jerinic stated.

As explained, the Memorandum envisages cooperation in three phases. In the period until the start of the exposition, WEM and the EXPO 2027 Belgrade company will jointly organize activities in Shanghai and China. Then, during the EXPO, from May 15 to Aug. 15 2027, WEM will take part in the exposition with its own pavilion, with an exhibition dedicated to the topic of the event, the history of international expositions and the role of EXPO in shaping global development.
