Oil and gas company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) on May 19 said that in the first quarter of 2026, it invested RSD4.9 billion in oil and gas research and production, or 78 percent of its total investments in this period.

The main investments in the sector included wells, geological and technical activities, infrastructure projects, and equipment procurement, as well as asset maintenance.

“New oil wells were commissioned, and taking into account all geological and technical activities performed from January to March this year, oil production increased by additional 13,500 tons,” the company said.

In the first quarter of 2026, a total of “280.000 tons of oil and gas equivalent were produced in all NIS’ facilities.”

“In complex circumstances, we achieved results that are significant not only in domestic, but also in regional terms. Most of NIS’ oil and gas fields are located in Serbia, while the company also operates in Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
