Slovenia has released a new bond with a ten-year maturity date and increased the range of two previous releases for a total EUR2.25bn in debt on the financial market, the Finance business newspaper has reported.

Together with a release of EUR1.5bn in bonds in January and the issue of treasury bills the total debt has reached EUR4.5bn.

A budget financing program for this year envisages EUR1.58bn in debt. The situation, however has changed because of the coronavirus, as well as the easening of the EU’s austere financing rules, due to an expected increase in the negative effects of the economic shock caused by the pandemic.

Last week, Slovenia’s parliament ratified an economic-social aid package worth EUR3bn, while the government has announced another package of at least EUR3bn before the end of the month.
