The Serbian authorities have started the process of easing the tight restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic, claiming that the situation is slowly stabilizing and that the danger has diminished. The announcement of said process was unexpected, after the so far longest curfew, i.e. a general ban on movement from 5 p.m. on April 17 to 5 a.m. on April 21. The several-day curfew was probably imposed with the aim of preventing bigger gatherings on the occasion of Easter according to the Julian calendar, celebrated in Serbia on April 19.
