Kosovo After Indictments Against Thaci and Veseli

Thaci’s Position Considerably Weakened

A statement from the Hague tribunal’s Specialist Prosecutor’s Office that the judge from the previous proceeding has ben handed a draft indictment against Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Democratic Party of Kosovo leader Kadri Veseli has shaken the Kosovo public, while analysts say it has also caused Kosovo great damage. The statement reads that the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office has submitted to the Specialist Chambers for consideration a ten-count indictment accusing Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli and other individuals of a number of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder, enforced disappearances, persecution and torture.
