The anti-regime protests that erupted slightly unexpectedly in Belgrade and other Serbian cities practically “went out” in fewer than 10 days, but their importance for the political situation in Serbia should not be underestimated. They have shown that there is still a will in Serbian society to resist the authoritarian system of government. It may even become stronger if tensions on the political stage continue to rise and if a political group willing and capable of, at least on an elementary level, articulate and channel the growing dissatisfaction of a considerable number of citizens appears. Analysts and observers believe that such a group does not exist at the moment.
