Budget Deficit Hits a Record High, Salaries to Go up
Serbia’s budget deficit is expected to hit a record EUR4 billion, but it has not prevented the authorities from promising a pay raise in the public sector next year, along with a one-off payment to pensioners. The country’s new cabinet is preparing a 2021 budget based on optimistic expectations of new growth, even though no one can say how the pandemic will evolve, or how its consequences can be alleviated.
