One Less Opposition Leader?
The presence of President Aleksandar Vucic at the opening of a new ski lift on Mt. Zlatibor sparked waves of criticism against the head of the Cajetina municipality, Milan Stamatovic, who in the eyes of the opposition has turned his back on it, joining Vucic and his allies instead. Vucic’s stay at the Zlatibor ski resort in Serbia’s west, and even more so the hospitality the mayor lavished on the president, has been interpreted as the demise of another potential ally in the fight for change of government. On top of that, it’s been viewed as the fall of the last Serbian municipality in the hands of the opposition as well.
