When it came to power in 2012, Aleksandar Vucic’s Serbian Progressive Party initially did not particularly put the spotlight on Serbian national symbols and themes or the widely accepted interpretations of the history of Serbs in the 20thcentury. However, over the last few years the regime has begun systematically ramping up national consciousness. That was especially noticeable in the last two weeks, when the authorities made a number of moves which additionally fueled divisions in society.
