The marking of Serbian Statehood Day, on Feb. 15. passed in the shadow of a new protest of environmental activists who blocked traffic on two boulevards near the Palace of Serbia, where President Aleksandar Vucic was awarding medals on the occasion of the holiday. The protest rally, which once again demanded a permanent ban on lithium and boron mining in the entire country, confirmed that the energy of the environmental movement has significantly weakened and that Vucic is well on the way to coming out as the winner in that fight.
