It wasn’t until they nearly reached a closure that people in Serbia found out about secret negotiations between the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) and the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MPC). They debated the status of Macedonia’s church, trying to resolve a dispute between the two churches that goes beyond their relations. The news about the negotiations broke out while the Orthodox world is still trying to recover from a rift within, which will determine how and if the MPC status will be solved. It is no wonder, therefore, that a flurry of speculation, the lack of information and controversy surrounds the process.
