The question of imposing sanctions against Russia because of its invasion of Ukraine, i.e. Serbia’s alignment with EU policy, remains the dominant political topic in Serbia. There is no doubt that the only one who makes decisions on the matter is Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who is finding himself under growing pressure from the EU, Germany and the U.S. to introduce sanctions against Russia. At the same time, he says he will keep leading the policy he has led so far as long as possible.
