Disciplining One of the Few Free Media Outlets in Sandzak

The Court of Appeal in Belgrade has overturned a second ruling of acquittal by the Higher Court in the city and has ordered the director and editor of Novi Pazar’s Radio Sto Plus, Ishak Slezovic and Nikola Kocovic, as well as Beta News Agency which is the founder of that media outlet, to pay immaterial damages to Serbian Progressive Party official Igor Novovic. Radio Sto Plus, one of Sandzak’s few media outlets with an independent and free editorial policy and not under the control of the regime or one of the political parties, connects this decision with political influence on the judiciary and describes it as an attempt at punishing and disciplining the radio station.
