The regime led by Aleksandar Vucic reacted strongly to a report by Council of Europe rapporteur Dora Bakoyannis recommending that Kosovo become a member of the Council of Europe, and even hinted at Serbia’s possible departure from the organization. However, the message about a potential protest exit from the Council of Europe was most likely sent to the domestic public, because it is difficult to believe that Vucic would make that move, which would essentially mean the end of Serbia’s European integration process. Nonetheless, the regime’s representatives are using that situation to intensify the anti-Western narrative, which they have done in late March for years now, on the occasion of the anniversary of the start of NATO’s bombing of FR Yugoslavia.
