With a decisive, first-round victory in presidential elections, incumbent president and Serbian Progressive Party leader Aleksandar Vucic has confirmed his domination over political life in Serbia. After ten years in power, most of which seemed absolutist, Vucic has secured another five-year term in office and is en route to becoming Serbia’s longest-standing head of state since the renewal of its multi-party system.
