Zagubica municipal president Safet Pavlovic was introduced to the wider public in the past several weeks owing to demonstrations against opening a gold mine which experts and activists say would threaten the eastern part of Serbia. Pavlovic’s behavior and the accusations against him have shown a pattern of rule in small places that has become typical since the Aleksandar Vucic’s Serbian Progressive Party has been running the country.
