Novi Pazar Mayor Nihat Bisevac on April 7 fired his assistant Emir Asceric, appointed to the post as a member of the Party of Democratic Action of Sandzak.

In a post on his Facebook profile, Asceric had earlier branded President Aleksandar Vucic’s visit to Novi Pazar on April 6, during which 13 ventilators had been supplied to the local General Hospital, as “abuse” and “brutal political campaign.”

Bisevac said that each individual was entitled to express their own opinion in their own name or on behalf of their party at all times, but stressed that it was inappropriate to do so in the capacity of mayor’s assistant and thereby provoke confusion among the public.

“It is inadmissible to have anyone politicize absolutely every efforts invested in overcoming the current situation which is why I have decided, in accordance with the Statute of Novi Pazar, to relieve Emir Asceric of his duties as mayor’s assistant,” Bisevac said.
