CEFTA’s regional Green Corridors system will start being implemented at certain border crossing as of April 13, and when the rest of crossings fulfill the technical requirements, they too shall join the system, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce’s has announced.

The system is introduced to make the transport and trade of goods within the region easier and speedier, as the additional border and citizen protection measures introduced because of the pandemic have greatly slowed the traffic down, the announcement posted at the Chamber’s website explained.

Border crossings and green lanes within this system will be open for all kinds of goods, while humanitarian goods will have a special priority, which requires previous announcements.

Marko Cadez, the head of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber’s Western Balkans Investment Forum, contacted at the end of March European Commission President Ursula fon der Leyen, asking that the Western Balkans be included in the said system designed to accelerate the transport of goods, the announcement recalled.
