The 40th anniversary of the death of Josip Broz Tito was marked in front of a monument near his childhood home in Kumrovec, on May 4.
The commemoration was more limited than in previous years due to the epidemiological situation in Croatia. Delegations from the Kumrovec municipality and the League of Anti-Fascist Veterans and Anti-Fascists of Croatia, and Krapina-Zagorje County head Zeljko Kolar, brought flowers and lit candles in front of the monument.
Franjo Habulin, chairman of the League of Anti-Fascist Veterans and Anti-Fascists of Croatia, described Tito as a politician whose legacy had marked the 20th century.
Josip Broz Tito was the leader of Yugoslav partisans in World War II and head of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia.
He was the leader of Yugoslavia from 1945 to his death on May 4, 1980.
