Three people died from the corona virus in Serbia in the past 24 hours, the deputy director of the Serbian Institute for Public Health "Milan Jovanovic-Batut" stated on May 6.
Speaking at the news conference of the task force, Darija Kisic Tepavcevic said that 6,196 people were tested in the past 24 hours, 114 of whom were positive for the virus.
This placed the percentage of positive test results below two percent for the first time, to 1.8 percent, she stated. There are 48 people in hospitals still on ventilators.
The total number of fatalities from the epidemic in Serbia is 203 and a total of 1,791 have been cured.
Epidemiologist Predrag Kon stated on May 6 that experts of the task force had "no dilemma" about the abolishing of the state of emergency in Serbia because, in his words, the drop in the corona virus' activity is visible.
"It has long been known that the state of emergency would be abolished in the ninth or tenth week, since it only enabled the deployment of the military and police for the purpose of efficiency, which we have accomplished. Our goal is not the state of emergency, but to return to normal life as soon as possible," Kon stated.
