Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic talked on May 25 with the chair of the European Parliament (EP) delegation for Serbia, Tanja Fajon, and EP Rapporteur Vladimir Bilcik, and acquainted them with the measures the government was taking to ensure that the upcoming elections pass in the best way possible.
Stefanovic underscored that all domestic and international observers were welcome to monitor the election process which, as he put it, "has been additionally enhanced in previous months through amendments to legal regulations," said the Interior Ministry.
The minister also invited ODIHR representatives to send a full mission that would monitor the election process, adding that Serbia would provide them with all the required working conditions.
EP delegation chair Tanja Fajon pointed out that it was important that the election process did not jeopardize people's health, as well as that space be given in the media to all political actors, and that international and domestic observers be enabled to work.
Bilcik also said that Serbia had done much to improve the election process and that the amended regulations were now to be implemented.
The meeting, held via video link, was also attended by Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Sem Fabrizi, read the statement.
