Dr. Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, the deputy director of the Public Health Institute of Serbia Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut, announced on June 25 possible restrictions on night clubs given that indoor gatherings and celebrations were identified as “the largest hotbeds of infection.”
Over half of the infected said that they had been to a party, in closed space, or a club, [attending] some kind of event we all look forward to,” Kisic Tepavcevic, who is a member of the government’s COVID-19 crisis response team, said for Pink TV.
She also said that the majority of people who have been diagnosed with the novel virus in the last few days are between 20 and 40 years of age, adding that in most cases they do not even show any symptoms.
“The fact that it is the younger adults who are affected by the disease, speaks volumes. I know that what I am saying about tightening the measures is not very popular, but it serves to reduce the late nights out,” Kisic Tepavcevic said.
She stressed the importance of adhering to the general preventive measures, such as wearing masks, washing your hands, and keeping a physical distance, despite many looking at these with scorn. She believes that, however, it is not likely that there will be another state of emergency.
